Remembering Hunter Schmidt

On September 3, 2024, our world was shattered. Our son, Hunter Schmidt, was taken from us far too soon in a tragic dirt bike accident at the age of 17. Hunter was not just a son; he was our hero, our light, and our everything. As we navigate this painful journey of loss, we want to honor his incredible spirit and keep his memory alive by establishing a scholarship in his name.

A Passion for Life

Hunter was a vibrant young man whose zest for life was contagious. From a young age, he loved working on his truck, pouring his heart and soul into every repair and modification. Each bolt tightened and every panel restored reflected his hard-working nature and keen attention to detail. Hunter cherished weekends spent hunting with his father and working alongside family in the great outdoors; those moments were filled with laughter, stories, and a profound sense of freedom.

A true adventurer at heart, Hunter was passionate about dirt bike racing. Whether he was hitting the trails or tinkering with his bike, his enthusiasm was infectious. Alongside this, he discovered a knack for welding and pursued a program at school where he could hone his skills. He dreamed of using those skills to create something remarkable, leaving his mark on the world.

A New Chapter in Kansas

When we made the decision to move from New Jersey to Kansas, Hunter chose to come with us, embracing this new chapter with excitement and open arms. He thrived in his new environment, quickly making lasting friendships and adapting to the vibrant Kansas community. The beauty of the open skies and the welcoming atmosphere perfectly suited his adventurous spirit. Hunter had a natural ability to fit in, and he brought joy to everyone around him with his priceless smile.

The Kindness of Hunter

Hunter’s most cherished quality was his kind heart. He had an innate ability to make others laugh and find joy in the simplest of moments. If you asked him for help, he would jump at the chance—no task was too big or small. His friends and family knew they could always count on him, and his eagerness to lend a hand reflected the amazing person he was.

 A Lasting Legacy

The loss of Hunter leaves a void that can never be filled. In our grief, we have found solace in the idea of keeping his spirit alive. We are excited to announce that we will be establishing a scholarship fund in Hunter’s memory at his school in Kansas. This fund will support students who share his passions for farming, welding, and hard work—students who, like Hunter, embody the same kindness and dedication that defined him.

Each year, we will award a scholarship to a deserving student who embodies Hunter’s values and passion for life. We want to ensure that his legacy continues, inspiring future generations to pursue their dreams, embrace kindness, and work hard—just as he did.

 How You Can Help

With your help, we can make this dream a reality. Donating to the scholarship fund will not only support aspiring students but will also help us keep Hunter’s memory alive. We invite friends, family, and all who knew him to contribute to this cause, ensuring that Hunter’s spirit continues to inspire others. Together, we can create a lasting impact that reflects Hunter’s extraordinary life.

 Honoring Our Hero

As we share Hunter’s story, we invite you to join us in this mission. Your contributions will play a vital role in honoring his legacy—showing that kindness, joy, and hard work are values worth celebrating. Although his time with us was brief, Hunter Schmidt’s spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. He was our everything, and we will always hold him close to our hearts. Through this scholarship, his legacy of kindness, laughter, and adventure will continue to shine brightly, illuminating the paths of many young dreamers in Kansas and beyond. Thank you for your support in helping us honor Hunter’s memory.
